A LOS ÁRBOLES
En la lenta ceremonia pienso a veces
de la despedida: crepita un instante
sin otro después, un alto muro ciego
Uno busca su lugar en el mundo, y de pronto
el ocaso. En eso pienso, como el árbol debe
pensar en sus hojas.
Y el viento sopla después, y el silencio.

TO TREES
Of the slow ceremony of farewells
I sometimos think: an instant splutters
without an aftermath, a high blind wall
One searches for one’s place in the world,
and suddenly, the end. I think of this, like
the tree must think about its leaves.
And the wind blows after that, and silence.
